The People's Poseur Presents: Watchu Know Bout . . . Edan, the Mic Manipulator?

This kind of reminds me of Deltron 3030 . . .

Edan - "Mic Manipulator" off of Primitive Plus (2002).

Deltron 3030 - Madness.

Click here to check out "Run That Shit" by Edan, which has a pretty cool KRS-ONE sample or click here to check out "Migrane" (also) by Edan, a pretty dense, crazy track I also find reminiscent of Cube's cousin Deltron.

I knew this song was on a different level when the Japanese singing comes in . . .

Edan - "Sing It Shitface" off of Primitive Plus (2002).  From approximately 3:56 - 5:06 there is a silent gap before the track starts back.

So Evidently They Made Canadian-Screened Grindhouse Trailer Hobo With A Shotgun Into A Movie...

UPDATE 2011.01.27 10:16 a.m. EST - New video of Rutger Hauer bringing out a shotgun at Sundance (Via.)

(Via.)

I wish Rob Zombie would make Werewolf Women of the S.S. - or release the footage he already did for it.

Hobo With A Shotgun Trailer.  Official website here.

(Via.)

Wikipedia says that "Hobo with a Shotgun, directed by Jason Eisener, was initially a fake trailer made for an international contest to promote the release of Quentin Tarantino & Robert Rodriguez's double feature Grindhouse.  It won the contest, and was screened in Canada as part of the actual release of Grindhouse."

With Eli Roth working with The Abbot of the Wu-Tang Clan and Russell Crowe in China on The Man With Iron Fists and Hobo With A Shotgun showing at Sundance, that puts the filmic offspring of Grindhouse at two movies (Rodriguez's 2010 "Mexploitation" Machete), but Roth has been quoted as saying he would like to make his twisted Thanksgiving trailer into a feature picture!  And like I mentioned above, Rob Zombie complained that it was painful for him to cut down what came pretty close to being a full-on movie, down to one trailer so maybe he still has the footage?

Oh yeah and there's this as well . . .
(Via.)

Click here for the Wiki article.  Tarantino is always going in multiple directions at once, but he has said that Vernita Green's daughter may come after The Bride a.k.a. Kiddo Beatrice (Uma Thurman); actress Daryl Hannah. who plays Elle Driver may have evidently survived being blinded and left in a trailer in the desert (with a Black Mamba loose).  A blind Zatoichi-type character (via) would be just the thing to tickle Tarantino's fancy.  Although everybody seems to hate 3D (and although the above poster of unknown origin in no way makes 3D definite) - it might be interesting.  Oh and IMDb (click here) confirms 2014.  And the return of Elle Driver.

The Crossroads Episode 3 (Part II)

Kwite Def (Kamackeris of Monsta Island Czars) Feat. Spiga, Rio, & Foul Language - Kill Or Be Killed.  Off Artz and Craftz (2007).

I think it's actually Spiega (versus "Spiga [sic]"), also supposedly a member of Monsta Island Czars ("M.I.C."); I can't identify the lyricists with certainty yet/match them up with their lyrics (also, the lyrical transcription was - and usually is on The People's Poseur - done by me, so mistakes are also mine).

"Corn-pone punishment / buck 'em and settle in [settlin'?] / tin trail veteran / suds killed better men / war drunk sounds drown out the lettered men / next of kin? get sold on Mexican / -soil get stole? / fuck 'em - don't let 'em in / [...] now melanin a felony / Elvis to Eminem: the fuck 'syou sellin' me?" - Spiga/Spiega (?)

"Y'all musta forgot / Summa y'all were descended from slaves / summa y'all were descended from caves / summa y'all immigrated, summa y'all migrated / just to make it here and find the world violated / American Dream started back when there were no buildin's / just the land, fertile with the childrens / [...]" - Rio (?)

Big Sean - Fat Raps (Chopped Not Slopped Remix).  [Original Track: Big Sean Feat. Chip Tha Ripper, Asher Roth, Dom Kennedy, Chuck Inglish, & Boldy James - Fat Raps (Remix).]

"I been frustrated with the way this shit's been aging / I'm about to take a break and get away on vacation / like maybe Malaysia to escape to meditation / now I'll just eat, pray, and wait for my day of revelation / or I'll take peyote, roam the rivers of Nairobi / change my name to Navajo and only grow weed / [...]" - Asher Roth

(Couldn't decipher the beginning of the last verse so I'm not sure whether to include it or not.)

Chip Tha Ripper Feat. Curren$y & Big Sean - Fat Raps.

DJ K.O. Feat. Silent Knight, J. Siinasttah, & Archival - This Land.

"They say home is where the heart is / but they don't tell you that / you're welcome back with the smell of crack and garbage / plus the fact that when you left this was a fortress / now it's a building full of Section 8 apartments / [...] try not to focus on the hardships, but when you see it all day it starts to weigh down your conscious / villagers on our own land and labeled immigrants / we helped build this, we native - indigenous / until they came 'n' enslaved us and pillaged it / we're treated like a game of Cowboys & Indians / nah, I'm serious - better believe it / instead of people to who I pledge allegiance / I never cease and desist to no extent / and so we make this place a home again." - Silent Knight (?)

"Could it be cause I'm Mexican? Nah. / Cause even an idiot could see 'val's skill / no matter what the pigment is / race, creed or religion is / [...]" - Archival (?)

DJ K.O. - This Land (DIAZ&SIMA Remix).

The Crossroads Episode 2

REPOST:

Mr. Lif Feat. Aesop Rock & EL-P - Take, Hold, Fire.

This is a really dope and lyrically complex song.  The first verse with Mr. Lif portrays imperialistic colonial oppression that is brought to light repeatedly as the succeeding verses play on the dual theme of the song: from "Once again, the sun illuminates body at dawn" to the candle Aesop Rock mentions in relation to "realness" and El-P's multiple puns and double entendres relating to light/flame/fire.

"A young brother who hungers, lying there shiftless / A rich brother who hovers, hoarding his riches / Acts of the colonized [...] / And I know they're listening - So P.S. 'Fuck the Feds!' / [...]" - Mr. Lif

"No, it isn't folklore - Yes, it's morbid / If he hold heat, he'd probably hold grudges, not horses / We grew up in the Hold It Now Hit It / When Hold It Down meant it was better to Hold The Crown, not the Image / You bow to a gimmick, you bound to hold back the incentive / when you haul back to the village / fall back, crawl back to the killers / Who couldn't hold a candle to the actual definition of "Illest." - Aesop Rock

"Little man said I was fired / under artificial fire up in the sky / florescent tungsten hovered under cubicle design / interrupted just before final synaptic nerve could fire / [...] What a fiery piece of trash (bastard) / Why, I ought to fire the boomstick in your face and tell the tribe that it was (magic) / You tried to take my soul but now it's (Fire in the hole!) / And I'm fired up / Walking through the office firing automatics / You didn't start the fire - You simply sparked it / Next time you light a fire under my ass, better hope that you're flame retardant / Arson is in my bent heart - You're begging to see the (billow) / of the smoke of the fires of Odin - Enter the fire starter / See, every monotonous moment that I punched the clock / was equivalent to furnace fuel / in the form of a (fiery rock) / Welcome to trial by fire measured in Celsius / You can fire me from the job, but I promise I'm walking out the office the healthiest." - El-P

The UN (Pete Rock) - Nothin' Lesser.

"2 for timin', shout out / this one's for money rhymes / take it to 'em hardboiled, charbroiled or fraud / Holy Ghost, Peter - Plymouth rock landed on us / [...]"

Pete Rock & The UN - Nothin' Lesser (Madlib Remix).

Fonzworth Bentley Feat. Kanye West & Andre 3000 - Everybody.

Andre 3K: "Shorty you killin' em hard with them lady pants / simple elegance looking better when you dance / chest to the sun with your thoroughbred stance / you gallop to the rhythms of a native drum chant / your granny must be Navajo / [...]"

8Ball & MJG Feat. Outkast - Throw Your Hands Up.

"I'm still abound, un-believers stay from the hell around / I found negative niggas they only keep ya down, / transmitting from Native American burial grounds / I carry around, the weight of all worlds on my shoulderpads / um post tah blast Space Invaders up somebody's dad / [...]" - Andre 3000

"IMAKEMADBEATS has built his reputation on an obsessive dedication to his craft and a mad scientist-like approach to tweaking samples, drums, and live instruments – proving himself to be both a rapper’s producer and a producer’s producer. Most people first became aware of IMAKEMADBEATS from his 2009 collaborative project The Transcontinental with Oxnard rhyme-slinger Roc C (a project that featured the likes of Oh No, Big Pooh, Rakaa Iriscience, and Chino XL), which subsequently led to the nationwide Smash Mouf Tour. In addition to the much-anticipated forthcoming Doxside Music Group self-titled debut, IMAKEMADBEATS is also unleashing his dual-EP concept album Daylight/Nightlight, featuring Butta Verses and MidaZ the Beast respectively. Also in the works are projects with Beretta 9 (Wu-Tang’s Killarmy), his BlakOut album with MidaZ, an instrumental project, and more placements on projects by artists seeking the “IMAKEMADBEATS” treatment to their music" (Via.)

I want to make something that… They said the album, 36 Chambers, by Wu-Tang, was new, different, and they said it helped propel the hip-hop community. I would love to do that somehow on film. I would love to make the same mark or impact, and I'm striving to do it with this film as my first serious directorial debut. And I'm going to tell you that we put a lot of time into the script, a lot of energy into it, a lot of people were supporting me on it, and if the energy comes out right, it should be a classic film to have in your library" (Via.)

For those not in the know, the RZA produced the soundtrack of Kill Bill Vol. 1 for Quentin Tarantino and, while doing so, studied the auteur's craft in hopes of transferring the knowledge gained into making his own films.  As previously featured on The People's Poseur, The Abbot of the Wu-Tang Clan directed and co-starred in his very own low budget Kung Fu flick Wu-Tang vs. The Golden Phoenix:

Of course, I didn't bring you back here to tell you what you already know (at least if you've been following us here).  While the above movie isn't currently slated for any kind of release (theatrical, direct-to-DVD or otherwise), his upcoming project The Man With The Iron Fists (2011!) is listed by IMBd (click here) as featuring Lucy Liu (as "Madame Blossom"), former pro-wrestler Dave Batista (as "Brass Body"), Byron Mann (as "Silver Lion"), Asian American rapper and actor Jin Auyeung (as "Chan"), and creator of the Wu-Tang Clan symbol Gano Grills (as "Thomas").  IMBd also lists as cast members Daniel Wu, Cung Le, RZA, and, now, . . . Russell Crowe!?!?

So what can you expect of The Man With The Iron Fists?  A film set in feudal China where a blacksmith forges weapons and teaches local Chinese peasants and villagers to fight back against an oppressive lord and . . . Well, RZA wrote the script and then got help retreating it from Eli Roth, he's starring in it, he's producing it (along with Eli Roth and his production company; oh and evidently Quentin Tarantino is also producing it as well now), and he's going to be doing the soundtrack for it.  Universal has picked it up (via) and given it a budget of 20 million; Eli Roth is currently on location with RZA shooting (right now!) in China (via), although Tarantino evidently isn't.  Of the Chinese film crew Roth recently tweeted that they are "are so fast and efficient I feel like I’m watching an episode of Benny Hill" (via.)

And yes, Russell Crowe is a confirmed cast member (click here).

Oh, and if that isn't enough you can click over to here where RZA talks about a planned ODB biopic and his role in a remake of the cult classic The Last Dragon (1985), which I read somewhere is going to have Rihanna . . . as a dominatrix.  Oh, and Samuel L. Jackson will be co-producing it together.  He had this to say ""There's been a new script out already, but to me, they didn't nail it, so I sent the writer some books he should read, and I gave him a few pages. I'm not the writer, but I helped him out, gave him five pages of information, sent him some books so he could really make a story that'd resonate with today’s times for The Last Dragon. But I want to keep the martial-art integrity, parts that the first one may have lost, because the other guy was in love with Bruce Lee. Bruce Lee is still the master, still the greatest, but maybe his popularity in cinema is not the same as it was in the '80s, because in the '80s, you were still getting Bruce Lee releases."" (Via.)

Gano Grills ("Thomas") was also featured in a Jim Jarmusch film - Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai (1999), which starred Forest Whitaker and which the RZA again did the soundtrack for:

Early on, Roth said of The Man With Iron Fists: "Yes, it is true. RZA's script is amazing. He has been studying directing with Tarantino for years and he's really ready to get behind the camera. His impact on rap music and hip hop culture cannot be measured, and he's ready to add his own unique style and vision to the world of film. This movie will have everything martial arts fans could want, combined with RZA's superb musical talent. This project has been his dream for years, and I'm thrilled to be a part of it. And fans should know that yes, there will be blood... This ain't no PG-13" (Via.)

The Cure starring RZA.

Early on Roth also said that "While I was away shooting Inglourious Basterds, RZA went to China to shoot test footage on his own, with all the choreography. It was very visual and I think he will bring to life a script that mixes kung fu with a spaghetti western mindset and a hip hop influence.  RZA has imagined every tribe, every fighting style, every costume.  He knows kung fu like I know horror" (Via.)
