Power Struggle - "Mr. Sagittarius... A Proletarian Path to Enlightenment" (Dir. by Benardo Josue; Prod. by Mister REY) [Music Video] off Remittances (2012) from BeatRock Music. Click here for the bandcamp.
"Mr. Sagittarius" tells the story of Nomi's life, from his upbringing as
an immigrant youth in the post-industrial city of St. Paul MN, to his
nomadic years as a traveling rapper on the open road. Feeling tired and
unfulfilled as a rapper, Nomi ended up in San Francisco hoping to start
anew. He became a basic laborer, which eventually led to his involvement
in community and labor causes. These experiences develop his political
ideology, helping him understand his life as a whole. What sets this
song apart from other hip-hop narratives is that it tells the story from
a variety of spaces and places, connecting the issues that affect local
working-class families, to things that are happening on an
international level.
Director Bernardo Josue makes his debut as
music-video director. In "Mr. Sagittarius" he is able to capture the
melancholy tone of the song by shooting images from the working-class
districts throughout San Francisco. The foggy street scenes are
quintessential when representing the City. The lighting and grainy
coloration make it feel an old detective film. Bernardo, Nomi and
producer Mr. Rey are able to create and audio and visual amalgamation of
high quality art with a great message and purpose.
Together
with the music video is the release of a free downloadable maxi-single
for "Mr. Sagittarius." Listeners will enjoy a remix by Digital Martyrs
along with an unreleased track entitled "Smooth Talker" produced by
Fatgums. "Smooth Talker" was recorded in 2009 and was the first
collaboration between Nomi and Fatgums. The two would later join forces
with Mister REY to create Remittances, the critically acclaimed album by
Power Struggle. The maxi-single can be downloaded using the following

Be on the lookout for the forthcoming Power Struggle EP entitled Tell Them That You Love Them due for release in early 2013.
"French producer Douster brings his tropical rhythms to Jeffree's plate with his latest release "Boom Skaka Laca". Sounding like a 90's take on dutch house and taking a vocal que from NBA JAM "Boom Shaka Laca" is guaranteed to make anyone on the dance floor move their feet. The B-Side "Pop That Bubble" rides the same vein of tropical grooves and chopped up vocals that Douster has perfected over the years." (Via.)

"Le Goudron" is a surrealist revolutionary song originally recorded in 1969 by Brigitte Fontaine with The Art Ensemble of Chicago; YACHT has reinvented its naive-apocalyptic candor for a neon-soaked dance floor, our preferred autonomous zone.
