timbap digital DJing - basic interaction.
vinyl+ • Expanded Timecode Vinyl. YouTube Description: "Smartphone apps? Nice! But how about a turntable app? / vinyl+ Expanded Timecode Vinyl / Jonas Bohatsch, 2009/10 / Project description: vinyl+ is an interactive installation that tries to expand timecode vinyl (usually used for digital djing) with visual and interactive elements. This is accomplished by sending the timecode vinyl's values (rotational speed and needle position) to a processing sketch. / This sketch then generates corresponding visual output on the surface of the vinyl itself. Various scenarios for this kind of setup have been developed. The goal is to merge them into one beautiful strange interactive record. / User Experience: People are allowed to touch the record and play with it (spinning forwards/backwards, stopping, starting, repositioning the needle). When turning the record, objects will immediately start turning with the speed of the record or a force will be applied to objects with physical properties, having them slowly pick up speed. Colors of the record and objects will change depending of the speed the record is played back. Also the position of the needle will have an effect on how many objects are visible and the type of objects visible (eg. objects with physical properties, objects visible only when touching needle, size of objects, cuttable objects). / Now supported by Wien Kultur! / Also thanks to Native Instruments for support! / Yes, we had some problems with the focus when shooting this video..."
